Welcome to R & S Waterson’s
We are a small family firm formed in 1964 here in Hemsworth serving the community from our newsagents on Highfield Rd
and still serving today 53 years on. In 1978 we ventured into mini buses and progressed into coaches.
We now run a number of buses across
Barnsley, Hemsworth, Grimethorpe, South Elmsall, Wombwell & Doncaster
In 2014 with the collapse of another bus company we stepped into save the bus service 38 and then asked to do the 37 service by the people of Grimethorpe & other areas and progressed from there. As a community based firm we don’t like to see town’s and villages losing bus services to which communities rely on, so where possible we have extended our services though some of the areas that were losing their services. It maybe Not Ideal times for some where we have stepped in but as we keep stating we are a small family firm with limited resources our buses and drivers are on the road working full shifts.
In September 2018 We started the 203 Service which connects small villages such as Broomhill, Middlecliffe, Billingley, Clayton, Hooton Pagnell, Brodsworth *(Brodsworth Hall), Pickburn & Highfields *(Market Street / Coppice Road).
This Service Runs between Doncaster Interchange to Wombwell. This Service also runs between 07:30 AM - 18:55 PM
Doncaster to Wombwell Only £3.50 | Friendly Drivers | To View the Timetable Please Click HERE
Passenger numbers are important to us continuing to operate our services the decline in passengers are to blame for the cuts in your bus services. Please help us help you to maintain your bus services by using your bus services regular.
For those passengers who have been traveling with us when we were based on Highfield Road in Hemsworth. Mrs Sheila Waterson used to come and greet
passengers on a morning. On occasions, she was known to board the coach with
glasses of Sherry on a Winters morning whilst passengers were waiting to depart.
Sheila passed away peacefully after a short illness on 12th July 2018, aged 86.
Up to April 2018, she was still actively involved in the business,to which she has
devoted many years of her life.
She had been married to Ron for 66 years and has left a deep void in our family.
She was the best Wife, Mam, Mother-in-law, Nannan and Great Nannan and her
loss has left a huge hole in our hearts.

For those passengers who have been traveling with us when we were based on
Highfield Road in Hemsworth.
Today we sadly announce that our beloved Dad, Father-in-law and Grandad, Ron Waterson, has passed away. His wife, Sheila, passed away last year and now they are reunited.
Ron loved his family and he loved working - and combined the two with the many businesses that he has run over the years. From selling eggs, a milk round, a newsagents and a coach business - he had seen and done it all, and had the stories to tell too. Before this, he had done his National Service and had worked in the Pit and the local Brickyard.
His passing has left a huge hole in our lives and Ron will be sadly missed by all.
Ron passed away peacefully on 21st October 2019, aged 88.
Up to October 2019, he was still actively involved in the business that he and sheila created to which he has devoted many years of his life.
